Biography: Moses was born when Pharaoh had commanded that Hebrew male children be cast into the Nile. His mother hid him and later placed him in a basket among the reeds, where Pharaoh's daughter found him. After fleeing Egypt to Midian, Moses encountered God at the burning bush and was called to return to Egypt and bring the children of Israel out of bondage. Through Moses, God confronted Pharaoh, brought Israel out of Egypt, led the people through the Red Sea, and gave His commandments and covenant instructions at Mount Sinai. Moses continued to lead Israel through the wilderness until his death before Israel entered the promised land.
